Ways to Come Up with an Original Herbal Shop Name

A variety of herbal remedies.

There are a number of ways to come up with a catchy and memorable business name for your herbal brand or shop. If you didn’t find anything you that resonated with you in the list above, not to worry. The most distinct brand names are the ones you personally come up with.

Steer clear of any name ideas that are too complex like acronyms (an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words).  While acronyms might they may occasionally work for established brands, you need your new customers to be totally clear on the product offering, so acronyms are not the best idea.

You can mash up two or three words if you create a phrase with herbal connotations. Global companies like TripAdvisor and Netflix have made this idea work so you can too. Some examples for an herbal business name using this process would be HerbThyme or DillCo.

Of course including the specific ingredients that make your product is another proven naming strategy. And with plenty to herbs to choose you’ll have no shortage of ideas. The only word of warning we want to share is that you’ll be locking yourself into a specific ingredient by prominently featuring it in your brand. For example, if you launch a brand called the Ginseng Guys, customers will expect your entire product line to contain ginseng as a primary ingredient. Something to be aware of before you launch.

Creating a descriptive brand name is another option as long as it can be easily remembered. Marcy’s Herb Apothecary is a good example of a descriptive names, while Wilkinson’s Herbs and Spices Emporium is a mouthful. No matter what name you choose make sure to live with the brand idea for a couple weeks before making a final decision. By giving your name idea a little time to breath, you’ll be less likely to select a bad name that hurts product sales.
